Chalk paint

Mom had this old, kids rocking chair and asked me if I'd like to repaint it. I was wanting to try out chalk paint (and had a few other "projects" lined up for it) so I gave it a go! With chalk paint there is no prep work (sanding, etc) so you get to start with the fun stuff right away! I painted two coats on it, did a layer of soft wax (seals the paint), distressed it with sand paper, added another layer of wax and am very pleased with the outcome!

2 coats of paint and 1 layer of wax on...

sanding...

all done!

Something red...

Found some red accents today (at 40% off no less!) and I'm liking the results!

More winterizing...

I have this perfect little window above the piano that I've been so excited to do something with since I moved in so I thought I'd found the perfect idea! Well, it ended up being too much going on up in the window so I moved things down to the top of the piano but I still really like the outcome!

The idea sparked when I was watched interior decorator Rebecca Robeson video "Christmas Decorating Home Tour for Christmas 2012".  She has amazing videos on decorating and designs some pretty ahh-mazing luxury homes. In her entertainment center she made this really neat piece with tree stuffers (it's around 3:30 in the video if you're interested) and I ran with it!

I bought some green styrofoam, tree stuffers (not sure if that's what they are really called), glitter and fake snow.

Insert the tree stuffer into the styrofoam. I bought all the same tree stuffers because the selection was pretty limited if you don't want to spend all of your piggy bank.

Like I mentioned before my original plan was to set them in the window sill with some snow around them. But with the snowflakes hanging down from the ceiling it just got to be too much going on. I couldn't get the snow "just right" either so I brought out my wire baskets (LOVE the dollar section at Target!). I put the tree stuffers in first and then packed the snow around them. The finished it off with a dash of glitter. A little bit a glitter never hurts...

The end result! I feel like something is missing but haven't figured out exactly what.

Until next time...

Why do you think?

I can decided if I like the evergreen on top of the windows or if I should put some snow flocking on them. Thoughts?? (Comment below!)

Mod Podge & Glitter

I had the best Friday night that I've had in a long time! I recently ordered the most adorable "Let It Snow" from Uppercase Living and couldn't wait any longer (ok, it was only 24 hours but a  l  o  n  g   24 hours) to get it up on the wall.  It took less than an hour from start to on the wall so it's super fast and easy!

Here's what I did to fancy it up: Bought an 8x8 frame and white glitter at Michaels, grabbed my Mod Podge and a sponge.

I put an even layer of mod podge on the frame and then heavily poured on the glitter. Once that layer was pretty much dried (a.k.a. when you run of of patience & just want to get on with life) I did a coat of mod podge and glitter on the sides of the fram as well as the inside.

I decided it would be kind of boring if the background was just plain white so I flipped over the beautiful flower picture that came with the frame, slapped some MP & glitter on it and called it good.

I applied the sticker... picture... sticker thingie  "Let It Snow" to the glass annnnnnnd
**ta-da!**

Ignore the nice lil air bubble in the "O" and the terrible lighting that is making my wall look like not such a nice color...

I'll get a better picture during the day-time tomorrow of what it looks like but here's a dark and glumy shot

Until next time.

Welcome! Ever since I moved into my house last January, a blog has been on the back of my mind so I've decided to make it a reality! I can't promise exhilarating, earth shattering blog posts every week but I sure will try my best. You may wonder what is "424b'? Well, it's my house number... creative, huh?

First off, I owe a HUGE thank you to Becca Paro over at Jumping Jax Designs  She designed the blog for me and I couldn't have asked for more! Go check her out!

Since the snow started accumulating yesterday I got the big itch to start winterizing the house. It's my favorite season to decorate for! I'll take better pictures during the daylight in the next few days but here are some snap shots from my phone of the holiday/winter decorating I've been doing.

Aren't those skates adorable?! I'm sortof proud of the burlap wreath I made. Super easy! When I make my next one I'll be sure to do a blog post on it.

Table still needs some help but you got to start somewhere!

I've been loving the Candy Shoppe Scentsy warmer for this corner. It's still available, too!

I know, the snowflakes aren't symmetrical but for once I planned it that way!

Over the few days and weeks I'll be adding, fluffing, removing and creating more winter decorations. Stay tuned!
